Overview: One feisty half-immortal. Two beastly supernaturals. And her supposedly suppressed magic on the fritz.
Trysten grows tired of the restrained light in her body, a power that begs to be unleashed. Her leaky dampening block means she’s overheating like an oven on the fritz. Though she lives a somewhat normal life running her own bakery, she can’t ignore the urge to heal others. Spending the first twenty-one years on Earth pretending to be human has to have more meaning to a half-immortal than baking cupcakes all day and listening to her roommate drool over the local hotties.
Trysten’s first late-night healing escapade is a flop, in that she’s caught by the amazingly gifted doctor Mason Hayes. His mysterious powers bear similar traits to the immortals’ powers on Trysten’s home world, but the warning from the mysterious vampire Beckett confuses Trysten’s initial instincts about Mason; he’s keeping a dangerous secret.
He’s not exactly brandishing fangs like the vampire either, but Mason’s beastly persona is frighteningly dangerous.
Mason thought he had destroyed the organization that experimented on him from his infancy, but he’s cautious. Should another organization find out about Trysten, they’ll both become targets. Mason must once again face off with his demons, but this time to save the enigma that’s Trysten—from both Beckett and himself.
