Overview: When Katie Villin, team lead for the Biological Engineering Task Force of the CDC, finds three new cases on her desk, she first doesn’t want to investigate any of them. The team has spent the last few months tracing COVID contacts, and the new reports, all about the presence of strange, unearthly creatures, seem more like practical jokes than legitimate calls for help. She finally agrees to travel to the nation’s capital, caving to her team members’ desires.
Katie suspects something is off at the address from the first case folder. A husband claims to have killed his wife because she transformed into a sizable octopoid creature and attacked him. What Katie sees in the man’s living room makes her balk at opening the other two folders, each containing similar reports of loved ones turning into strange creatures. As the evidence comes in, Katie fears that they are at the start of a horrific pandemic that threatens the stability of the entire nation.
Katie and her team must use all of the skills at their disposal to identify the cause of the terrifying contagion before there’s no country left to save.
