Overview: Matthew Jarpe was born in St. Joseph, Michigan in 1966 but grew up on a farm in Los Lunas, New Mexico. He has a BS in Biology from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, a PhD in Biochemistry from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and a postdoctoral studies at National Jewish Medical Research Center, Denver, CO. He currently works as the Director of Biology at Acetylon.
Jarpe is the author of two novels and six works of short fiction. He wrote his first novel, Radio Freefall, when he was working on my postdoctoral fellowship in Denver; during which time he met David Hartwell, who bought and published it.
Matthew Jarpe married Michelle Morris in 1990 and they have one child, Sam. They currently reside in Quincy, MA.
