Overview: Timothy Zahn was born on September 1, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois. he grew up in Lombard, Illinois and attended Glenbard East High School in Lombard. He then went on to Michigan State University earning a with a master’s degree in physics. He then completed a doctorate in physics at the University of Illinois.
He began his fiction writing career with the publication of “Ernie” for the September 1979 issue of Analog Science Fiction/Science Fact. To date he has published 65 novels, and 108 short stories and novelettes.
