Overview: As indicated by the title, Bødy is a collection of horror stories, all thematically linked to people’s perception of their bodies, and the consequences of vanity and low self-esteem. In the vein of the psychological suspense of the Twilight Zone, each story ends with a shock, leaving the reader unsettled with the old adage, “Be careful what you wish for,” echoing in their bones.

As if looking at a reflection, each character’s self-conscious thoughts, each of their worries about lines, wrinkles, blemishes and fat is instantly, unnervingly recognizable. You can’t help but want each “what if” scenario to end well, if only to justify the discernible parallels to real life. Fans of TV shows like Black Mirror will find much to enjoy in this lurid compilation.
