It Has Come to the Triarii: The First Legion (01) by Steven Amen
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 1.0mb
Overview: In 2010, a series of letters was found behind the wall of the Oracle at Delphi. These letters detail a period of Roman history that is often overlooked.

While the storm that would eventually overthrow the Republic had begun brewing long before, in 104 BCE, it started to make landfall on the peninsula.
Rocked by a series of defeats, not seen since Hannibal, the Roman war machine was stretched to its limit by the restrictions imposed by tradition. A massive confederation of Germans marched back and forth across Germany, the Balkans, and Gaul for some mysterious reason, but never invaded the fertile heartlands of the Republic.
After concluding his campaign against Jugurtha, Gaius Marius is tasked by the Senate with confronting the Germans. Eager to take on this new challenge, he does away with several outdated restrictions to create a new army for the Republic.
At the same time, a seedy lawyer from the Gracchi clan, recently involved in piracy in the Aegean, is offered a fresh start in the legions, with the chance to elevate himself beyond what he could accomplish on his own. Marius asks him to document his experiences during the campaign against the Germans, resulting in an unfiltered account of the brutal conflict.
