The Further Misadventures of Ellery Queen (2020) Antology by Josh Pachter, Dale C. Andrews (Eds)
Requirements: ePUB reader, 0.4mb
Overview: In 2018, we co-edited an anthology that brought together sixteen pastiches, parodies and other homages celebrating (and continuing) the adventures of author/detective Ellery Queen. In our introduction, we noted that it had taken over seventy-five years for an anthology of Ellery’s misadventures to come into being. Yet here we are, two years later, offering up a second volume.
This time around, we’re including:
• Additional stories by authors who were represented in the first collection: Edward D. Hoch, Jon Breen, Arthurs Porges and Vidro, and your editors, Dale C. Andrews and Josh Pachter;
• Reprints by authors not included in our original Misadventures: J. Randolph Cox, Maxwell E. Siegel, and Theodore B. Hertel;
• The Ellery Queen chapter from Marian Mainwaring’s brilliant 1955 novel Murder in Pastiche;
• The first English-language appearance of a pastiche by Chinese author Mǎ Tiān;
• The first appearance in print of a parody by Manfred B. Lee’s son Rand;
• Two brand-new stories written especially for this collection by Ellery Queen’s Mystery Magazine editor Janet Hutchings (in which EQ’s girl Friday Nikki Porter takes center stage) and Crippen & Landru publisher Jeffrey Marks (in which Djuna and Champ star in an Ellery Queen, Jr. pastiche); and
• A never-before-published true-life “misadventure” written by and featuring Frederic Dannay and Manfred B. Lee, the cousins who wrote collaboratively as Ellery Queen.
Intrigued? We hope so! If you are, then pull up a chair, get comfortable, and come along with us as we see what further misadventures Ellery has been up to….
