Overview: Louis Fisher was born in 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a technical author, who, during a twenty-year career writing IBM computer manuals, began publishing fiction with “Enough Rope” in the December 1958 issue of Fantastic. His first novel, Sunstop 8 (1978), is a space opera; his second, The Blue Ice Pilot (1986), features a space war made possible by developments in Cryonics.
Though not a major name in SF, Fisher represents a kind of author who came into science fiction from a non-literary/technical background, bringing a more utilitarian or pragmatic sensibility to his speculative work.
