Overview: Benjamin Taylor was born and grew up in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduation from Haverford College, he attended Columbia University, where he earned a doctorate. He has taught at The New School for Social Research. Columbia, and each spring term is at Washington University in Saint Louis, where he teaches modern literature. His essays and journalism have appeared in Antaeus, The Los Angeles Times Book Review, Raritan, The Threepenny Review, Salmagundi, The Georgia Review, The New England Review, and other publications. His previous book is Into the Open: Reflections on Genius and Modernity. Tales Out of School is his first novel.
