Overview: A Place for Us is a romantic comedy inspired by my brief stint pursuing a career in healthcare and volunteering at The Queen’s Medical Center and Island Hospice. Over the years since returning to Hawaii, I became more in touch through volunteering with the death and dying of people from different walks of life. It made me want to write a story about a young aspiring Indian nurse from North Carolina who moved to Honolulu to meet an aspiring Japanese writer that she had fallen in love with. Along their journey, they learn more about each other as well as about the mentally ill who lived in Hawaii and those that they had crossed paths with in work, school and life.
