How to Not Die in the Jaws of Calculus: A Practical Physics Approach to Help You Through Calculus by Thomas M. Sullivan
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 2 MB
Overview: This is a physics-inspired class read that is meant to help those in Calculus I and II get through the class. This book is not meant to teach people how to learn calculus(there are textbooks for that); rather, it is meant to be a music blastn’ compass to orient yourself through the jungle of calculus and to motivate you through it as you do so. Perhaps, by the endof the book, you may, god forbid, find math fun! Whether you want to be a Physicist, Mathematician, Carpenter, Construction Worker, or just a person who wants to enjoy Math, Calculus has something for you. In my life, hidden in all of the corners, I always find calculus to greet me. I truly believe that calculus is one of the most useful and interesting branches of mathematics; that is if it is done correctly. Throughout this book, I hope to educate you, the reader, about the various topics I have found to be most important for Calculus courses. As the book progresses, the sections become slightly more rigorous and thought-provoking. The reader may notice that throughout the book there are little stories that describe the concepts that we discuss. These are meant to provoke interest in the mathematical description without all of the great detail that the more mathematical section depicts. It is also meant to show how they can be connected to the real world.
