Overview: Rocky Mountains, 1823 Hugh Glass has been imprisoned by pirates, trained by the Pawnee Indians and is now one of the most respected trappers in the Rocky Mountain Fur Company. The company is under threat from the Arikara Indians and rival bands of men, keen to secure their fortune. John Fitzgerald is a fugitive mercenary. It was a twisted path of murder and theft which led him to the wilderness. Inspired by stories of the plainsmen, Jim Bridger is a young man who signs up for his own frontier adventure and immediately pledges loyalty to Glass. When Glass is horrifically mauled by a grizzly bear, Fitzgerald and Bridger are ordered to remain with him until his inevitable death. Fearing an imminent attack by the Arikara, Fitzgerald takes the decision to abandon Glass, stripping him of his prized Anstadt rifle and ordering a reluctant Bridger to follow him. As Glass watches the men flee, he vows to undertake an epic journey of survival. It is a journey which will see him travel over 3000 miles to seek revenge for the men who betrayed him.
