Overview: Arthur Jean Cox was born on January 21, 1929 in Los Angeles, California. He was an author and was very active in science fiction conventions, clubs and fanzines. He was on the committee for Pacificon, the 1946 Worldcon, and worked on numerous conventions afterward. A member of LASFS, Cox served as an officer and edited several issues of Shangri L’Affaires. He was a contributor to Science Fiction Times and to Riverside Quarterly.
As an author, Cox was honored with the LASFS annual Fanquet in 1950. He was awarded the 1952 LASFS Writer of the Year Award and regularly attended the Tom & Terri Pinckard Science Fiction Salon.

Cox’s first published story, “Twilight Planet,” appeared in the June 1951 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. He wrote under his own name as well as Ralph Carghill, Jean Cox, Gene Cross, William Dean and John Thames Rokesmith.

Arthur Jean Cox died in early-October 2016.
