The Healer Class by Silas Strand (Regressed Archmage: 1)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 3.4 mb
Overview: Humanity’s strongest Archmage died on the Tower’s last floor. He woke up the day before the System arrived.

For forty years Martin Brandt was the ceiling of human magic. He cleared floors no one else could touch, and still watched mankind get ground into the Tower’s stone by older races that treat human spellcraft like a child’s trick. When the Gatekeeper of the last floor tore him in half, he cast a working no Archmage had ever bothered to build: a life-anchor. Healing magic, turned on time.

Now he is twenty-four again, Level 1, with twenty-six hours before the sky cracks open. When the class screen opens and the whole square fights over Legendary sword classes, he takes the card nobody wants, the one every guide will call useless.

Healer.

Because he alone knows the rule: the System prices a heal by how well you understand what you’re healing, and Martin spent forty years learning the fabric of life and mana. His Level-1 Mend doesn’t close wounds. It rewrites the broken pathways underneath. His touch can knit a body back together at the structural level, and what he can knit, he can unmake.

The catch is capacity. His core is a child’s cup: almost anything, once. Then he is empty, physically Level 1, and bleeding from the nose.

He knows which “helpful” starter classes are cages. He knows where Floor One hides its trials before anyone else finds them. He knows the Gatekeeper walks into the city’s safe zone on Day 9 and eats two hundred people. And he knows which easy-smiling man with a two-handed axe, standing in that same square, becomes the warlord who sells humanity’s floors to the older races.

He didn’t plan for the [Divergence] counter only he can see. It climbs every time he changes the story, and past a threshold the Tower re-rolls what comes next. The more people he saves, the less he knows.

He has a mutated hound pup he rebuilt at the wall, and an older brother who died on Day 3 the first time, while Martin was across the city.

Every life he saves costs him a piece of what he knows. He intends to spend all of it.
