Overview: The Fetch is set in the Polity after the war with the prador, while they are still clearing up the mess. In this horrific conflict worlds were depopulated and destroyed. The seemingly indestructible exotic metal spaceships of the alien prador came up against the AIs of the Polity and their massive production of weapons from factory stations. Every available weapon was deployed and new and esoteric ones were invented. War drones were an example – manufactured killers often formed in the shapes of things at the creepier end of the evolutionary spectrum. Terror drones were another, whose purpose is self-explanatory, and the Fetch is one of these. But extreme high-tech warfare is not unique to humans and prador It was in the universe millions of years before humans banged rocks together and prador made stone hammers to smash each others’ shells.
