The Silent Majority: When Heads of State take the law into their own hands by John C De Groot
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 400 KB
Overview: Three former leaders of the most powerful nations on earth get together to take the law into their own hands. They want to right the wrongs they were unable to, or prevented from while they were in power.
Faced by obstaces from existing laws, self-interest, officialdom, powerful government departments and people simply fighting to resist change these obstacles exist even in the face of the will of the majority, whichever party or leader they may have voted for. So, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to imagine that the leader could well leave office feeling angry and frustrated.
When their term of office is at an end, they have choices. Retire peacefully accepting the accolades, or condemnation of history; return to the humdrum of politics, or a charity; accept a commercial Board position with its immoral salary. Or, for a few, taking action to achieve the results that were not possible when they were in office.
The members of ‘The Silent Majority’ chose to do the latter, in secret. The challenge with secrets is that they always get out, sooner or later.
The political career of one the members of ‘The Silent Majority’ was prematurely ended by a car bomb and now he’s secretly using their resources for a personal vendetta.
The narcissistic Chief Executive of a private bank, is blackmailing one of the former members of ‘The Silent Majority’, while profiting from the activities of a hired assassin called the Black Rose. All the time defrauding the bank and laundering money for criminal gangs and terrorists.
James Stanhope, another hired assassin, with a conscience, is thrown unsuspectingly into this fast-moving thriller when he’s hired by the same former member. With surprises at every turn, murders, treachery and the arrival of the Russian mafia, combine with the forces of law and order to ensure a bloody, but satisfying conclusion.
