A Lesson in Forbidden Love by Arietta Richmond (Lessons from a Lady, The Governess Chronicles Book 1)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 3.8 MB
Overview: A Lady with no option but to become a governess, a Marquess with a sister who needs schooling, a broken betrothal, malicious whispers of scandal, an unexpected connection which leads to a love that cannot be denied.
When Miss Madeleine Wharton’s father’s investments failed, so did his heart, from the shock – but the whispers suggested that there was more to it than that. Socially outcast, and left near destitute, Madeleine became a governess to support herself, and her sisters. All was well until she took up a new position as governess to the sister of the Marquess of Greyscarp – then, all of her careful work to be quiet, unremarkable, and efficient enough to retain positions that let her survive was tested, from the first moment. The man affected her as no other ever had, and she found herself saying and doing things that were beyond unwise.
Stirling Hawksmoor, Marquess of Greyscarp, acted on impulse when he employed Miss Wharton – he had only been the one to interview her because his mother was detained elsewhere, and he knew, instantly, that his mother would not like her. But he also was utterly certain that she was the right person to deal with his sister. And, if he was honest with himself, he employed her because she attracted him, in ways that a man should not admit to being attracted to a woman he employs.
