Overview: Some guests never check out.
When Diana Connors arrives at the Halcyon to claim her late mother’s suite, she expects to feel grief. She doesn’t expect resistance. The front desk stalls her. The staff watches her too closely. And the hotel’s wealthy residents seem united by one unspoken rule: what happens at the Halcyon stays at the Halcyon.
Her mother, movie star Rose Connors, supposedly fell down a back staircase. Diana has never believed it was that simple. As she begins digging into the life Rose kept hidden, she discovers a woman she barely knew and a hotel built on decades of secrets, favors, and carefully purchased silence.
Then another woman inside the Halcyon disappears.
While a detective investigates from the outside, Diana realizes the answers to both cases may be buried inside the hotel, and someone is willing to kill to keep them there. To uncover what really happened to her mother, Diana will have to break through the Halcyon’s closed ranks before she becomes its next secret.
