Overview: Noah Cade was never supposed to matter at Breaking Point Academy.
He’s a support-track medic with a Class D healing power, which means he sits on a metal bench at the edge of the arena and waits for the real heroes to get hurt. Nobody looks at him twice, and that suits Noah fine, because it lets him notice things nobody else does. One of those things is that Kaia Voss, the number one student in the country, has a tremor in her hand that keeps getting worse.
Then, in front of forty thousand fans and a live broadcast, Kaia’s power spins out of control, and every instructor in the building freezes. Noah runs onto the arena floor and grabs her wrist, and words he has never seen before appear in front of his eyes:
[POWER DEBT DETECTED]
Every time a hero uses their power, it does damage. The strongest students are slowly wearing themselves down, and the safety bands the academy makes them wear only hide it. Noah is the only person who can see that damage, and he may be the only one who can take it away. Each time he does, he gets stronger.
The academy wants to put him to work and watch him closely. The rival who calls him a leech wants him gone. And the women on his new squad have damage of their own that they’ve spent years trying to hide.
Noah is starting to understand that the academy has been keeping a secret for a long time, and that somebody there would like him to stop asking questions.
