Overview: A city without murder. Someone forgot to tell the killer.
In a city where murder is extinct, Julie Ruhl has finally achieved her dream of becoming an elite operator within the Homicide Prevention Center.
Since the hotline’s inception, operators have saved thousands of lives, including her own.
Night after night she talks down would-be murderers: violent mothers, abusive husbands, angry teenagers. In return she is well compensated, as all operators are: luxury housing, the respect of the public, a level of control others can only dream of.
And every week, operators field a call from Mr. Thursday, who describes, in grim detail, how he plans to murder a woman.
The operators have always dismissed it as a prank. But when Julie answers Mr. Thursday’s call, she realizes the hotline’s tracking technology has been tampered with, and digs a little deeper.
Mr. Thursday decides it’s finally time to reveal the truth: he is no prank.
Your safety is our priority. Please hold.
Someone Who Can Help is a chilling near-future psychological thriller that blends the high-tech paranoia of Black Mirror and Minority Report with the relentless pacing of a Blake Crouch or Riley Sager novel.
