Overview: He helped stitch her together, and now he belongs to her.
Silas has been a prisoner in a cold, crumbling tower for twenty years. Bound to a necromancer by contract, with a parasite attached to his face and haunted by a supernatural hunger, he works as a surgeon’s assistant and grave-robber. But his servitude’s days are nearing its end when he steals the coffin of a legendary warrior so the necromancer can bring her back to life in a colossal body, using alchemy and dark magic to fuse human grace with the brutal strength of an orc.
Eveline D’Averne’s had her rest interrupted, and she’s returned to life with shattered memories. Nearly nine feet tall and a single amber eye, her new body is a monument of muscle and forbidden science. But the macabre state of her new flesh prison cannot cloud the warrior’s gaze when she looks at young Silas. He’s just as much a captive as she is: someone broken, someone worth claiming.
While the necromancer is away and the autumn storms let up, a dark and forbidden sanctuary blooms. Silas tends to her wounds, feeds her, and helps her adjust to her artificial body. In return, Eveline offers him the one thing he’s never known: warmth, fierce protection, and the gentle authority of a companion who refuses to let him keep bowing to his miserable lot in life at the tower.
At her feet, Silas will find peace for the beast he carries within.
But their days of peace are numbered. When the necromancer returns for the final stage of his experiments, they both find themselves trapped in his ritual, forced to fight their way to freedom and protect the one thing neither of them is willing to give up: each other.
