Overview: Zara James is twelve gigs away from the future she’s always wanted. Unfortunately, Blake Thatcher has never been good at staying out of her way.
After an that injury nearly derailed her career as a harpist, Zara has been rebuilding her strength and the carefully planned future she almost lost. Now, with her dream audition finally within reach, she can almost see her life falling into place.
There’s just one thing Zara didn’t plan for: Blake Thatcher.
Six years ago, Blake was Zara’s best friend. Then he broke her heart. Now he’s back, after making it big as a Hollywood trumpet player, with the same old infuriating smile, effortless charm, and uncanny ability to get under her skin.
When a Christmas gig puts them back on the same stage, Zara tells herself it’s only one Gigmas season before Blake will be in her past once more. But twelve gigs is a lot of time to spend together.
As Christmas draws closer, the two fall back into their old rhythm, Zara begins to wonder if the future she’s been fighting so hard to get back to is actually the future she wants.
Because maybe the best things in life aren’t the ones you plan for.
Maybe they’re the ones that bring you back to the music.
