Two Cups: The Fog Is the Canvas by Damo Balagi
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 2 MB
Overview: A book about two leavings.
In November 2004, in a pizzeria in Knoxville, Tennessee, two graduate students made a vow. In January 2025, after nineteen years inside one of the world’s largest financial institutions, one of them kept it. He walked away from a successful career with nothing on the calendar and no idea who that would leave.
The first leaving took an afternoon. The second took much longer: the need to arrive.
He expected the next destination. He found fog.
Two Cups: The Fog Is the Canvas is a literary reinvention memoir written from inside the uncertainty of change, not from the tidy far side of it. Over the months that followed, Damo Balagi traces what three decades had built in him, from a boyhood in the forests of southern India to a career spent indoors, and the slow recognition that the natural world had been teaching him all along: a hornbill on a rosewood tree, a volcano in Hawaiʻi, a geyser in Yellowstone, a baby deer in Bandipur.
It is the story of a father, a son, a husband, and a job. And of the man who stayed: the version of himself who never left, and keeps arriving.
Reflective and unsentimental, Two Cups is for anyone at a crossroads in a career or a life, and for anyone who has spent years chasing the next milestone and wondered what would happen if they stopped.
