Overview: Running from a gang of slavers, Airi flees into the faerie-infested forest known as the Dark Regions. There, she is saved by an armoured woman as beautiful as she is terrifying. A human at home in the forest, Akane has learned how to survive in harmony with the faeries who call the Dark Regions home. Staying by her side in order to survive, Airi quickly develops strong feelings for her saviour but a recent rejection makes her hesitant to confess her love. The deeper they move into the forest, the more dangers they face and Airi finds herself relying more and more on the stranger who has won her heart.

After a harrowing encounter with human soldiers, Airi and Akane are forced to flee the forest and re-enter the human world. It is there that Airi becomes the guide and Akane the novice. When an innkeeper’s daughter runs away to join their travels, Airi becomes insanely jealous of Akane’s attitude towards the younger woman and realises the threats of the human world are far more dangerous.

Not quite human, not quite faerie, Akane incorporates the worst of both species. To Airi, none of that matters. All she cares about is making sure Akane loves her in return, no matter what it takes.
