Overview: Steven Earl Popkes was born on October 9, 1952 in Santa Monica, California. He holds degrees in Zoology, Neurophysiology, Computer Science and Astronautics & Aeronautics. He worked as a software engineer for spacecraft systems until his retirement in 2014.
Popkes attended the Clarion Writers Workshop in 1978, and his first story, “Gingham Mountains on Blue Denim” was published in the first issue of the fanzine Event Horizon in 1980.
