Overview: Orville William Tuning was born on June 21, 1935 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) and was closely involved with the founders of the SCA.
His only novels are Tornado Alley, published in 1978 and 1981’s Fuzzy Bones, a posthumous sequel to H. Beam Piper’s Little Fuzzy and Fuzzy Sapiens (quite successfully extracting from Piper’s own texts material that needed development; written and published before the discovery and subsequent publication of the lost manuscript of Piper’s Fuzzies and Other People). He also published seven well-received short stories.
William Tuning died on April 18, 1982 in Santa Barbara, California of blood disease contracted during a hospital stay for the treatment of alcoholism.
