The setting is certainly new: never before has the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales been used as the scene of a murder, and this particular murder could not have happened elsewhere. But the Eisteddfod in this story is much more than a back-cloth to the drama — it is part and parcel of the action, the plot, and the characters. What makes this story different is not that it happened at the Eisteddfod, but that the Eisteddfod atmosphere permeates the whole of it.
