Overview: When I first met Tony Ferrari, he was already dead.
Recently murdered, deeply unimpressed about it, and inexplicably stuck haunting a snowy English pub, Tony is a born-and-bred New Yorker with two urgent problems: figuring out who killed him, and working out how one is supposed to move on when one doesn’t technically have anywhere to go.
What he does not expect is Betty.
Betty has been dead since 1943. She is clever, sharp-tongued, quietly fearless, and impeccably British. Her idea of romance involves shy glances across a church hall, a properly arranged invitation to dance, and the shared, deeply meaningful unwrapping of a boiled sweet. Possibly in an air-raid shelter, if things are getting serious.
Tony, modern and entirely unprepared for old-fashioned ghostly courtship, has no idea what the etiquette is for falling in love after death. Do you haunt politely? Hover with sincerity? Or scrawl Do you like me? Yes / No / Fade Away on a fogged-up pub window and hope for the best?
As Tony blunders his way through the mystery of his own murder—assisted by an unlikely collection of ghosts, a sarcastic Edwardian reverend, a pub dog with questionable bladder control, and one living woman who can see far more than she should—he finds himself falling hopelessly, inconveniently in love.
And that’s where things become complicated.
Because solving his murder might finally allow Tony to move on.
And moving on might mean leaving Betty behind.
What begins as a ghostly whodunnit turns into something far more unexpected: a tender, funny, old-fashioned love story about connection, choice, and the cost of closure.
After all, what’s the etiquette for wanting to spend eternity with someone who’s already had a life… and died in it?
When you’re finally given the chance to leave,
what if staying is the braver thing to do?
Would you take it?
