Overview: Roger Dee Aycock was born on December 6, 1914 in Floyd County, Georgia. He worked for the U.S. Post Office for several years; and was with the U.S. Army Signal Corps during WWII.
Aycock used the pseudonym “Roger Dee” for his fiction, which began with “Decoy to Death”, published in the January 1949 issue of Black Book Detective. Although primarily remembered as an sf writer, he was a prolific contributor to a variety of pulp magazines throughout the 1950s and 60s. His first stand-alone novel, An Earth Gone Mad, is an sf Dystopia depicting a populace under totalitarian mind control.
Roger Dee retired from writing in 1962 after his story “Rough Beast” was published in the March 1962 issue of Analog Science Fact->Science Fiction. He published one final story, “Perfect Match”, in the Spring 1971 issue of Worlds of Tomorrow.
Roger Dee Aycock died on April 5, 2004 in Rome, Georgia.
