Overview: Thomas Byrne should know better than to sign something without reading the fine print.
He reads contracts for a living.
But after his girlfriend of three years leaves him for another man, one miserable night at a South Philly bar ends with Thomas bringing home the most beautiful woman he’s ever seen.
Her name is Isadora Vane.
She’s tall, dark-haired, dangerously confident—and very, very interested in him.
By morning, Thomas discovers three problems.
Isadora is a witch.
The glowing mark on his body is a magical contract.
And according to the centuries-old Penn Compact, they’re married.
Isadora needs a mortal husband and a hearth of her own to claim a vacant seat on Philadelphia’s hidden supernatural council. Thomas has an apartment, an engagement ring that was never used, and exactly the kind of unfinished vow her magic requires.
So she made him an offer he was far too distracted to understand.
Now his commanding new wife is moving into his tiny apartment, rewriting the rules of his ordinary life, and introducing Thomas to desires he never knew he was allowed to have.
She likes being in control.
To his growing embarrassment, Thomas likes it too.
But Isadora isn’t the only witch interested in their marriage. Old contracts are stirring. Strange collectors are watching him. And when the Penn Compact begins questioning whether their unlikely hearth is real, Thomas discovers that surviving a world of ancient magic may depend on the one skill nobody expects to matter:
He actually reads the fine print.
