Overview: Five of us got summoned to be heroes. The Heaven’s Glass gave the guy in the gym shirt a Gold rank. It gave me three words in gray, small and a little crooked: Class: Powerless. Rank: None.
By nightfall I was in a wagon headed for the city’s scrap heaps.
I’m Cal Brennick. Back home I ran my late father’s repair shop, three weeks from locking the doors for good. The sign over the counter said WE FIX WHAT THEY TELL YOU TO THROW AWAY. Turns out Powerless comes with exactly one skill, and it’s the only one I’d have picked. Mend.
The lower city is full of broken enchanted things the guild says aren’t worth saving. Lamps. Heating stones. Swords. I can fix all of them. Every repair pulls the warmth straight out of my body, and some of them cost more than warmth.
Then a disgraced knight-captain, blamed for forty dead soldiers at Harlan Ford, puts a broken blade on my table. Under the loupe there’s a line cut into the steel. Somebody put it there on purpose.
Crafting-Core Progression: every repair on the page, from a cracked glowlamp to the heroes’ own steel, and a Mend skill that grows with each one.
The Women Who Find Him: sharp-eyed redhead who runs her own section of the heaps ✔, junior appraiser of the Artificers’ Guild who reads everything like a ledger ✔, knight-captain stripped of her colors in the mud ✔.
A Quiet System: gray panes, skill upgrades, and one smudged line on his class screen that nobody can read. Yet.
Real Stakes, Real Cost: a guild conspiracy, a Crown inquiry, and power that takes something from him every time he uses it.
