Overview: Ralph Robin (1914–1983) was a science fiction author whose career spanned from 1936 to 1953. He published approximately a dozen stories in various magazines during this time.
One of his notable works is the short story “Inefficiency Expert,” which appeared in the March 1953 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. The story features a satirical, “Swiftian” clash between two planetary cultures: the authoritarian, structured society of Tagr and the more easy-going, introverted society of Leu.
Outside of his writing, Robin had a diverse professional background, working as a chemist for the National Bureau of Standards and as a Professor of English at American University in Washington. He was also recognized for his poetry, receiving the Christopher Morley Award from the Poetry Society of America in 1976.
