Overview: He held the northern wall for thirty years with an army of the dead.
The king he saved watched him burn.
On the pyre, his own apprentice holding the torch, Roland Wyck cast one last spell.
He woke eighteen again, forty years back, seven days before the gray fever killed nearly everyone in his village… his father among them.
Everything he knew came with him. None of his power did.
He lay down among the bones until his heart nearly stopped. Then the class woke:
[ Class: Necromancer ]
[ Level 1 ]
[ Raised: Rat ]
He had broken sieges with the dead. Now he knelt with blood on his lip, as pleased as he’d ever been. About a rat.
Next, a crow. His father’s dead hound. A grave robber who picked the wrong night. A knight two hundred years dead threw Roland across the tomb, and knelt.
Every raising left him colder. Every one counted.
He knew what was coming. The fever. Its dead, clawing out of their graves. The church, with holy fire that burns the dead.
Only problem? Every change moved the future. He burned a merchant’s wagons to stop the fever, and it came a night early instead.
His father was alive, and starting to become afraid of him.
The first time, he watched the church burn his village from a hill. This time, he was raising the dead.
