Overview: A crown is within reach. But before a nation can be forged, a king must survive the battle for its future.
In The Forged Nation, the final installment of A Forgotten King and the Women Who Helped Forge a Nation, Æthelstan stands closer than ever to fulfilling the dream that has shaped his life the unification of the divided kingdoms into one Englaland.
But the road to the throne is anything but certain.
Æthelflaed, the formidable Lady of Mercia who helped shape Æthelstan into a leader, is gone. Ælfwynn has been removed from power, Edith remains fiercely independent, and old alliances are beginning to fracture. With Mercia, Wessex, Northumbria, and neighboring kingdoms divided by ambition, religion, loyalty, and ancient rivalries, Æthelstan must decide whom he can trust and what kind of ruler he intends to become.
