Scrapyard Archmage by Phoenix Raven (Mech Mage Academy Book 1)
Requirements: .ePUB reader, 729 kb
Overview: The academy rejected Rook Kazama five times. Then its elite cadets needed him to save their lives.
Rook makes his living repairing machines in the poorest streets of the city. He has no noble sponsor, no registered core, and a growing collection of rejection letters.
He also hears machines sing.
When four academy mechs freeze during a monster attack, Rook hears something their inspectors can’t—a wrong note buried inside their cores. Saving the pilots earns him a sponsor, a place at the academy, and a posting with the battered squad defending Gate Nine.
Now he has a chance to build something of his own.
With scavenged parts, a damaged drone, and a gift nobody knows how to classify, Rook begins assembling a mech that should never work. Every salvage run brings new materials. Every fight reveals another way to grow stronger. And Selene Arcadia, the brilliant pilot who risked her reputation on him, is becoming someone he wants beside him beyond the cockpit.
But the machines didn’t fail by accident.
Someone has found a way to silence them, and Rook’s talent threatens a secret worth killing for. With monsters closing on the walls, he must learn what his gift can really do.
Because the next time those machines stop, his friends will be inside them.
