Overview: I grew up in the UK, almost always with a pen and a notepad in hand. My siblings had both left home by the time I was ten, so I was an only child living in my own imagination most of the time. I read Agatha Christie novels over and over.
After school I did an ancient history degree and a postgraduate diploma in journalism before moving to London, and then Sydney, to work in newspapers and magazines.
After having my third child, I did a six-month novel writing course and wrote The Trivia Night.
